Designed for apartment dwellers who love to host, the Social Chair is one chair that transforms into three for when guests visit.
In high-density cities like London and New York, real estate is not only expensive, but limited. While big cities are exhilarating places to live, people may feel lonely despite being surrounded by millions of people, especially in the age of social media where interactions are more often virtual than physical. Given this context, the Social Chair was designed to encourage apartment dwellers to invite friends over, regardless of how small their homes might be.
For this project, a hands-on making process was used to drive the design from concept to execution.
